Long periods of absnets makes it difficult to communicate to both humans and other spacecrafts but not completely impossible... They don't understand humans' ideals or concepts even with the record they hold... They can remember the contents even with its sensories deprived.
Voyager does not have a face, but instead has static symbols that mimic a "face". It resorts to actions and behaviors to express their emotions.
